Nvidia Ethernet Does Not Connect

Ok, so I was feeling a little adventurous and I wanted to see if I could push my CPU a little further, so I upped my vcore and my FSB, wasn't stable and my comp crashed after getting into windows. I reset it to stable settings and reboot. Upon booting I cannot connect to the internet. I reset my modem and router a couple times, checked my connections, tried pinging the router, I couldn't, it was like the NIC wasn't even plugged in. I figured the drivers got corrupted so I went to reinstall them and upon reboot, corrupted OS. I said screw it and just decided to format and end the problem right then and there. After getting the system back up and the basics installed, the same problem... Mind you this is now all on stock. Now I start to worry, after more tinkering I format ONE more time just to be safe. I get the system back up.. same problem. When I run ipconfig /all it gives me this funky IP on a DHCP of 255.255.255.255... I decided to install the Marvell LAN that comes with this mobo also. Of course, it works. It instantly grabs DHCP from the router and connects perfectly. I try switching back to Nvidia, just hangs trying to acquire a network address. I even tried it straight from the modem. The Chipset drivers are 6.70. Sorry for the long post, any help is greatly welcomed

Do you have two lan connections on your mbo,try to switch them if you do. Is the nVidia listed in the device manager and enabled? Is nVidia enabled in network connections? From the sound of your post I'm sire you have already checked them but sometimes it's the easy ones that we forget about.

Sounds like your nVidia NIC can't renew its DHCP lease. Try manually setting the TCP/IP info for it. Gateway 192.168.0.1 (assuming your router is using that typical setup), DNS servers being whatever your ISP uses, IP address of 192.168.0.4 or something. And/or if you are using the Network Access Manager/nVidia Firewall, you could disable or uninstall it. Fully armed, it will indeed prevent the NIC from even getting a DHCP lease renewal, in my experience. Whether that's good or bad depends on your point of view.

I had already checked device manager, no conflicts or anything of the sort, and I did try to set a static IP, didn't help. I found it so strange that the Marvell LAN worked while the Nvidia didnt. I did a BIOS flashed and cleared CMOS, that fixed the problem, really weird
