Need a replacement for my 9800GT. Any card that fits the above criteria beside GT 620 from evga and zotac? these two cards are weak compared to 9800GT. The only plus about them is that they are DX11. This would go into a computer to be used more for multimedia rather than game. I know GT620 would cut it but i hate to step back in performance.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Highest spec single slot is the recently announced GTX650Ti
http://www.techpowerup.com/179080/C...rce-GTX-650-Ti-Single-Slot-Graphics-Card.html

Which might not be available yet in all places (if anywhere).
Nothing faster than that is available (or probably will be for the 6 series).

I think the fastest AMD card is the 7850, also only one model (AFOX) which has limited availability and high price, but is faster than the GTX650 (and also probably more expensive, but I don't know the GTX650 prices).

I've been looking for single slot cards, and nothing faster than these seems to exist on either side, and both are limited in availability/etc.

thanks, very helpful info. Glad I returned the GT 620 as it is significantly slower than 9800GT. GT 640 is about even with 9800GT but with DX11 so would be better as well as use less power according to this:

As for the GTX650Ti, I am sure it's even faster but will probably cost a lot more and I am not looking for the fastest single slot to play game, just need a good one for a mostly multimedia box. Guess i will try to watch out whenever there is special on GT 640 on sale.

I missed the special newegg had the other day on GT 620 for $15. For $15 GT 620 is ok but not $35.... oh well..

Hard to believe how well the 8800 GT and derivatives has been holding over the years.... I remember the ATI 9700 Pro and how long it lasted...

Zotac does honor the rebates but it takes a while and you have to keep on them. I hadn't gotten mine after 4 months so I emailed them and within a week I had both $30 rebates.
