"Apparently this will make this card faster then the red boys offer and might bring the long lost performance crown back to Nvidia."

interesting claim....

It'll be interesting if it delivers. I hope the driver has more than just optimizations for a few key applications like Far Cry. Also it had better be WHQL certified.

WHQL means nothing considering ati cheated for so long undetected!

What makes you think MS was not aware of ATI's excellent algorithm?

WHQL means squat. I think every catalyst release since 3.0 has been WHQL and it took them until 3.4 to fix a hardlock issue in HL.

It is a nice marketing gimic but hardly something worth fretting over.

WHQL does mean squat because it typically means at the very least they are handling DX calls as they should be handling them. Think a while back to how well nVidia was scoring in 3D Mark, WHQL vs. non-WHQL driver versions.

Since ATi filed for a patent, anyone could have known about it. It was public knowledge they had the technology.
And MS would probably not have WHQL'ed the drivers if they had not known, unless ATi decided to sneak their way through the process (doable, but I don't see why they would not disclose this tech - especially as ATi are working with MS on XBox Next - which may have a graphics chip which uses this technology/method.

What is this like the 4th thread on the subject? And please go look up what whql certification means *before* you're going to make stupid comments about it

The algorithm has been passing the tests since its inception and it's not the case that Microsoft isn't aware of it.

WHQL doesn't test for that kind of stuff...
Actually filtering is one of the things they explicitly test.

Hearing about the lack of availability of the 6800 ultra for another month, my guess remains the same. Nvidia releases bs drivers, because they have no hardware for sale. :wine:
