Hello...I just tried to update my NVIDIA detonator drivers from v. 23.11 to v. 28.32. I have an ASUS V7700 GeForce 2 GTS card. I use Windows 98.
I cannot get 1024x768 on my Optiquest 4000TC monitor.
I can get ONLY 800 x 600 which I abhor.
I even removed the 23.11 drivers then installed the 28.32 drivers with the VGA driver in place.
Also, under DEVICE MANAGER and under NVIDIA'S GeForce 2 GTS monitor tab, there is showing ver.4.13.01.2832 display driver. The update date shows as 03-09-2002 which is correct. I use 75Hz refresh which has always worked from day 1.
I have my AGP set to 2X in my BIOS as I know this old geezer monitor wont support 4X.
How can I get to 1024x768 which used to run when using the old 23.11 drivers? Also I just re-installed WIN 98 due to some missing files which now seem to be back.
Thank you.

i dont think agp 2x 4x etc has anything to do with the monitor. ive never heard of monitors not supported 2x, 4x or anything like that.

i know once when i was trying to change resolutions, i had to change it in steps. i never figured out why, but i had to change to 800, then bump, reboot, then change again. i probably screwed something up, but give that a try?

good luck

Do you have the latest monitor driver installed for your monitor? Note that in most cases you'll have to reinstall it if you change your video card drivers.

If you have it and it still doesn't work, try using Windows' standard SVGA 1024 x 768 driver instead.

Boot into safe mode and go into the device manager. Check and make sure you only have one monitor and one display adapter loaded.
Go into the bios and set the AGP to 4X, this a setting that is supported by the GTS, has nothing to do with the monitor. Check to make sure the monitor driver loaded is correct and supports resolutions above 800 x 600. Like BFG10K said, pick a generic one that supports the resolutions you need if the current one is not working for you. I personally found that the latest detonators are a little buggy for a Geforce 2 chipset, the 23.12's are working great for me.
