I have just built a system with 64 MB geforce 2 MX 400 graphics card..... which of the nvidia drivers are most compatible with software... games I mean really... I have tried the xp 2183 and they cause.. at least I think it's them doing it... they caiuse a severe problem in F1 2001... orignal drivers were fine but caused problems in Colin McRae Rally 2.... currenly I've got I think it's the 1249 installed... what are the best ones I can get that are also certified?
Thaks.

The XP ones work just great for most people, but excluding them, I found 1290 the best.

Sorry it's 1241 not 1249... where can I get the 1290?... or even 2181?... they aren't on the nVidia site now... do you know any good nvidia geforce sites?... I'm new to this card... I've been using 3dfx voodoo 3 2000 for the last year or so.
Thanks

I think there is a serious problem with the XP drivers. I think they've been optimized for Q3A and 3DMark2001 only. Some games may benefit while some will bug out. Porshe2000 is a good example. New XP drivers cause low fps and slight blurriness. And all other games will suffer a much greater fps drop when AA is enabled.

I wish nVidia could be consistent with their drivers and not optimize them just for benchmarks like they're doing now.

I think the XPs are generally reckoned to be A Good Thing (TM), especially if you've a GF3. Aside from the 3D improvements, the XPs allow greater 2D resolution and higher refresh rates in Windows 2000 / XP.

Good sites for drivers are www.nvnews.net and www.tweakersasylum.com for comparisons.
