Nvidia Drivers 91.47 can't find any drivers for my 7950gt

Meh, you don't need to do all that to go from one NVIDIA card to another. Just grab the newest driver from nvidia.com, shutdown and swap out the cards, and install the new driver after you reboot. You shouldn't have any issues.

Oh yeah, one more thing....

Prepare to have your mind blown out the back of your skull... 🙂 The upgrade from a PCI FX5500 to a 7950GT is HUGE!

i had a 7900gt bough about 5 months ago and i had to RMA. got a refund from newegg and waited until now to buy a new card 🙂

Try these:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/92.91">ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/92.91</a>

They add support for the 7950GT. I would also assume that your card came with a cd... it probably has these drivers on it. Technically, they are 'beta' drivers, but I haven't had any issues with them.

Edit: btw... You shouldn't completely alter your original post and thread title for updates.
The reason for this is twofold:
1) I don't have to go back and re-read parts that I have already read to know what is going on. Plus, responses to the original question don't make sense anymore if the first post has changed, making it more difficult for others to offer advice.
2) Most people that offer advice will check back on the thread (as I have) to see how things worked out. Changing the title makes this difficult.

91.47 supports the 7950GT, maybe you got a bad version when you downloaded it? From your description, looks like you are installing the drivers through Windows and letting it install for you.

I'd give this a shot again http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html

If you extract the WHQL 91.47 drivers, and do a search for 7950 in the nv4_disp.inf file the only thing you will find is:

NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0293.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0294.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 "

The 92.91's nv4_disp.inf contains:

NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT"
