Nvidia stock is up some 8% today; do they have a big announcement coming?

I somehow doubt it was yesterday's driver release, after all :)

NVidia filled to sell approximately 20 Million shares a day or two ago. Thats nearly [L=1.15 Billion in cashhttp://biz.yahoo.com/rf/011130/wbt025165_2.html[/L].

It is rumored they are attempting to buy a smaller company. It is rumored to be Matrox/CL/AMD (I highly doubt it is AMD) but CL seems to small. Ususually mergers/acquisitions involve cash/share swapping.

There is no chance NVidia can buy ATI simply for SEC getting invloved though maybe ST Micros graphic division or something of the sorts.

<< if they bought amd it would be awesome, my two favorite brand names combined >>

I don't think so. We'd just have another nazi company trying to create a monopoly, this time with video cards. Prices would go up, the customer would lose out. You guys have no idea what its like living in basically a third world country and all you can get is nvidia. Now I don't want to imagine how bad it would get if nvidia got even bigger.

Nvidia is very tiny, they can only get bigger (or go bankrupt).

You're probably right. It would be more likely that AMD buy Nvidia, and not the other way around. After all, AMD makes about 3 times the revenue Nvidia does.

Nvidia Mkt Cap 8.406B
CL Mkt Cap 589.5M
AMD Mkt cap 5.063B

Silly graph AMDs sales might be 3X in $ terms but investors view Nvidia as a stong company with good financials and a stong future. AMD still has to take down mighty Intel before it proves anything.

Could Nvidia buy AMD based on current prices? Probably but you also have to take into account that if such a merger/takeover is announced it would rocket AMDs stock price and would probably damage Nvidias price as well.

AGodspeed, "very tiny" isn't exactly the word I'd use.

Granted they're not Intel or MSFT, but they're bigger than any of their competition(unless you count Intel in due to their integrated chipsets).

Don't know what's causing it, but as a long time NVDA shareholder since June '99, I continue to be quite pleased at their performance. :)

I'm confused the stock recently split so that would mean you would have at least 60 shares so that means you made at least $3000?

I'd say regardless 10X your money is pretty good :)
