Nvidia Detonator 40 drivers...

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know it was out.

I just installed it now and everything looks good so far.
 
does it work for gf4 mx ???

I think it contains drivers for all the nvidia cards. It had drivers for my gf4 ti4200 in my home rig, and also my tnt2 in my machine at work.
 
It does indeed contain drivers for all of their chips.

I installed it and tried to run 3dmark2001SE, but for some reason I had problems with the first test. It would pause the display, and when it unpaused, the test would be further on, as if the test was still running, but my screen wasn't updating. Not sure what happened here, but not wanting to deal with it at the time, I switched back to the latest released drivers.
 
This has been a major thread in General. They are beta drivers that are optimized for 3DMark2001. Many users are reporting "issues" and have uninstalled them.

Wait for the final release (unless you just want to 'show-off' your 3DMark scores).

More like showing off their artifical notion of what's important in life. Clue for the clueless: if you get a stiffy from an increase in 3DMark but no increase in other DirectX, you have lost touch with reality. Seek help immediately.

No i don think they do. I think they are only for W2K and XP.

I havent had any real problems with the new drivers. The only minor thing is that whe I exit a 3D game and go back to the desktop, the screen, except for the task bar, is black and takes about 5 to 10 seconds to come back to normal, with a lot of hard drive activity. I'd expect something like this to happen anyway, but it didnt before when I was using the 29.42 drivers and its too minor to be bothered about.

Having played a lot more games ,I can say that stability with these drivers are great for me,I`m keeping them in my PC until a newer version is out.

I had an issue with OB sound on a SoYo dragon ultra board, and have had to use later Det. drivers instead of the current ones. The 40 series driver solved my prob. and run my games much better. I would give them a try.
 
They gave me lots of flickering and tearing in Hitman 2 Demo. I also noticed objects in AAO were more "blurred" with them. Went back to 30.82 and everything is fine now. They look very promising when finished, though.
 
they only really help in 3D mark no real game improvements 1-3 FPS max. and with them my TI4600 would only TV out in black and white. so i went back to teh MSI ones for my card
 

hmmm.. i got around 5 fps improvment on Morrowind, and it's not crashing to desktop anymore, maybe because the 40.x detonator?

I dunno... I dunno.... ^^
