Nvidia Coolbits clocking question

I have a GeForce 8800GT card for which I'd like to change the clock settings. I've enabled the Coolbits option in Linux so I get the options for changing the GPU and memory clock speed. The defaults are 600 Mhz and 900 Mhz respectively.

Another Nvidia card I'm looking at (GeForce GT 430) for another system has default settings of 700 Mhz and 1600 Mhz respectively.

I'm just wondering whether there's any rule of thumb for setting any kind of ratio between these frequencies. By the way, I'm looking to underclock the card slightly to generate slightly less heat.
