Nvidia control panel and digital vibrance.

Recently I turned on my computer and it was only displaying black and white! I was confused so I tried restarting, switching display ports on my 8800gt, ect.

Finally i was messing with stuff in the Nvidia control panel. I noticed that "digital vibrance" was set to 0%. When i turn it up colors will show up. However, if i set it to more than 50% I feel like the colors look to saturated.

Does any one know if I should be able to see colors even with digital vibrance set to 0? Could some one with an Nvidia card try it out?

its in the color management tab of the Nivida control panel.

Set it half-way (which I don't have the NV control panel in front of me right now, but it sounds like it's 50%). Anything below or above that messes with intensity and gamma to achieve the desired results - half-way is the same as not using Digital Vibrance at all.

And yes, this is a recent change. It used to be that DV could only be used to enhance colors, being able to diminish them is a new feature.

I actually just noticed this the other day, 50% DV was the default setting when I looked. I stumbled upon it while I was setting up my new U2410, and decided to just leave it as is after playing with it.

Reducing it below 50% does slowly wash out the color until it is black and white only at 0% like you experienced. In your case I would just set it back to 50%.

This does leave me slightly curious as to what situation one might actually want to adjust that setting though.

Ok well its good to know that setting it to 0 does force black and white for every one.

I am wondering that too now. I generally like to have my colors be as accurate as possible. At least I am back into the world of color though!

Thanks for your help guys.
