NVidia Confusion

I was hoping someone can explain something to me.I am in the midst of researching some video cards,to find out which one I will purchase. Why is it when I look at ATI,all thier cards are made by ATI.When I look for an NVidia, there are all different manufacturers of the card such as "House Brand NVidia Geoforce","Visiontek NVidia Geoforce"ETC...Which brand is a good NVidia card?I am looking for the TI 500.

nVidia doesn't make cards, there are 3rd party Radeon cards starting to hit retail now as well.

ati makes the chips and manufactures the actual card itself, nvidia just makes the chips and other companies manufacture the actual video cards based on the chips.

I have a gainward gf3 and find it to be a very good card. I was sceptical of nvidia products coming from a voodoo 5, but I was pleasantly surprised, so I would recommend them. I had a visiontek ti500 for a couple of days and it was excellent, great oc'er.

Thanks for the input.I just got off the phone with a customer service rep from pinnacle.I am in the process of buying some of their editing software, and wanted to know which card would give me the least hassles as far as conflicts. He told me to forget about any ATI product. He told me the best card to get would be the Geoforce MX400.What do you think about that card?
?

Much better cards than the MX400. I'd pass on that one. Go for something a little better unless your budget can't support it.

What card would you recommend?I'm not worried about budget.I just want a card that will give me excellent graphics, and that also has TV out.

If money is no object then do not touch a GF2mx. Go for a Geforce 3 Ti500 or a Radeon 8500, I haven't owned either but just trek through the forums for fifteen minutes and work out if you can hack the radeon's driver issues, if you can't then buy a Ti500.

Mike123,
Graphics in what?.. Are you going to be doing lots of photo editing, capturing videos, word processing, something you do a lot in 2D environment etc..? GF2 is pathetic(I own GF2) on this part. GF3 is better.. but still not as good as the Radeon 8500 on these type of apps. Radeon 64mb DDR Vivo is also very good and considerably cheaper than the Radeon 8500.

If you just play games and concern about the 3D's and speed, GeForce3 (btw, it's not GeoForce3) series. GF3 TI200 is a great bargain since it can be performed nearly or just as good as the GF3 TI500 if overclocked severely.

I'm a gamer and I still can't quite decide Im gonna go with the R8500 or the GF3 series. decisions..decisions....

MilkPowderR,
I'm not a gamer.I will be doing a bunch of home video editing.I had the Radeon 64 VIVO,but it burnt out. That's why I'm in the process of getting a new card.If I go with the Radeon card again,do you know of any other good editing software besides Pinnacle?
