If I am getting a MoBo with a Nvidia chipset will a geforce Vid card work better with it than an ATI or does it really matter? I really want an ATI X1950 so should I get a MoBo with an AMD chipset rather than the Nvidia chipset?
Thanks!

it doesn't really matter for a single gfx card.
If you were thinking about Crossfire/SLI then it matters.

It will work fine.

There is some old anecdotal evidence about NVIDIA video cards sometimes working slightly better with NVIDIA motherboards, but nothing very compelling.

I'm running a 680i based motherboard with an ATI X1900XT video card without issues. Before that it was a NF 570 based mobo. Never had any issues related to the video card and mobo not playing nice.

As Heidfirst already stated though, if you planned to do a crossfire setup with that X1950, it'd be an issue. You would need an ATI/AMD chipset for cross fire and an Nvidia chipset for SLI.
