I have an Asus SLI mb with a 680 sli chipset in Vista64. I have installed the latest drivers from NVidia and have noticed some thing that is different about this chipset compared with my older Nforce 4 SLI chipset. On my old NF4 after I installed the Chipset software form NVidia i notice that some of the devices in device manage under the system catagory changed from the "Standard PCI Device" to "Hypertransport Bridge" to give one example. On My new 680 based system this does not happen after installing the NForce Drivers. the only thing it sems to install are the IDE drivers and the NIC and the SMBUS. I am still left with 10-20 or so "standard pci device" under the system catagory. These standard devices are reporting that they are microsoft drivers when you look at the details tab of their properties. This would appear to me that the actual "Chipset" drivers are not being installed. And yes I have tried the drivers supplied by my MB maker and no luck I get the same thing. A good comparison is the Intel chipset drivers which when installed change most if not all of the "standard PCI devices" to things such as the Intel XXXXX SMBus Controller" and "Intel XXXXX PCI Bridge". Can someone please enlighten me or point me to the post that will answer my questions?
