Hello. I am considering an 8800 GTS 512 upgrade from my ATI X1900XTX. With my MB using the ATI 580 chipset, will there be any performance or compatibility problems using a Nvidia graphics card?

thanks

first to begin with there will be performance issues because your CPU and board is seriously underpowered. And others will tell you the rest...

Make sure you nuke your old ATi drivers first, or you're going to have a hell of a time setting up the nVidia drivers/card.

I don't think so. I'm using a similar cpu as the OP, and when I upgraded from a x1900xt to a 8800gt, the difference was night and day. I play at 1920x1200 resolution, and at that resolution the I could benefit from an even faster video card.
