Will an Nvidia video card work with an AMD chipset? I am considering pairing a Nvidia card with the 790FX chipset. Can you use two Nvidia cards with this chipset? Will SLI work?

Yes, I have an AMD 790FX chipset motherboard with three 9800GT installed.
EDIT: SLI doesn't work with AMD chipsets.

For 3d AutoCAD and 3Ds Max will running two cards in SLI have a significant advantage over two Ati cards run without cross-fire?

Why would you do that? Is that for folding?

No, you only need one card to do anyone of those tasks.

I am not sure you understood my question, I didn't explain it very well. If you start with comparing two ati firegl cards vs two nvidia quadro cards of similar performance level, will the added ability to use the quadro cards in SLI make a significant change in the level of performance?
