Nvidia Card for 3840x1200 {help} :)

Hi there, sorry to post such a specific question post as my first, but through my searching id have to say this forum has by far been the most helpfull to me for more subjects that i can remember. Thats why im now back to ask an opinion of you all if you'll take a few minutes

Im currently about to buy two 24" monitors running at 1920x1200, the standard if im correct.

Also, i need to buy a new graphics card to support them, as one large virtual desktop as 3840x1200 ( on linux, if its of any consequence.)

In short, im totally lost Im not sure if i should be looking for a certain virtual desktop range spec, or some other spec like ram to make sure that ill be able to support this res. I know cards list a max supported res but isnt that per monitor?

If i could get any clarification that would be just awsome, and any reccomendations for a card that can reach this res in the 150-250 USD range would also be much appreciated. I have been looking at the 8800GT, does anyone else have any experiance as to how it would stack up for this?

Yes, that's per monitor. If you're only wanting this card for desktop/video usage, any newer video card would be fine, even a $30 8400GS or a $50 8500GT. Oh, and welcome to anandtech.

Awsome, thanks alot myocardia. I think ill just happily go with an 8800 for the occasional gaming session then.
Off to pick out some LCD's now
