I want my GF3 Ti200 to perform better, and as I know you can get programs so you can write a custom bios for your Nvidia cards I want to know how to do it and what things I can adjust. I know that you can set another speed directly in the bios (making it run like a refular GF3 for example), but can I do other things? And where can I get such a program?
 
Have you tried NVmax? I used it and got a 400+ better score in 3DMark 2001 without overclocking, just enabled all the goodies...
 

Get Nvidia BIOS editor here. Use NVmax until you get a stable overclock. When you are happy with your results, use Nvidia BIOS editor to make a custom bios. Then simply flash with custom bios to stay permanently overlocked. (Be sure to backup original bios 1st.)

You can always re-flash bios back to original settings should something go wrong. You can always re-flash bios to a slightly lower clock/memory speed if you find out later that your settings were too aggressive.

The benefit of flashing bios instead of using software overlocking utilities like NVmax is:
1.) no screen flickering during windows startup (a side affect of all software overclockers)
2.) you do not have to re-overlock when reinstalling OS/drivers/other tweaking softwares.
3.) no background startup utilities hogging resources or slowing boot process.

All instructions on web page listed above. It was fairly simple to do. I got my Gainward GeForce3Ti200 permanently overclocked to 230/540. No more fiddling with software tweaks. Truely a set it and forget it solution.
 
No, I haven't tried NVmax, I use PowerStrip to oc the card with.
Was just asking if there was a way to get it to run even faster than I'm able to with software. Being able to oc it without software is nice, I'll do that for sure. So the only thing you can change in the bios is core/memory speed? That's okay, I just wanted to know exactly what you can adjust.
 
Okay, so bios-editing is only to change the speed that the card defines as "stock speed" right? It's only with the Radeon8500 you can make the gpu get more voltage as there's two versions LE/oem and normal that use different voltages, is this correct?
 
No, not NVMAX - Use Rivatuner. 😀 I think it's easier to use. Plus, installing NVMAX made my computer give a message every bootup about ddeml.dll having been replaced with an earlier version. That problem has since been rectified on my computer. It just doesn't do a version check now.
 
I already have a nice program to oc with, PowerStrip. As far as I know it should do the job as fine as the other two.
I know how to oc it as I currently run the card at GF3 speed (200/450) but with only one stick of ram I've had it up to 240/530 (faster than a Ti500 according to 3dMark 2001) with stock cooling, quite amazing considering that it uses 5ns ram! With two ram-modules in the mobo I can only oc to GF3 speed, but I'm going to get better cooling on the Northbridge to see if that helps.

I was just asking if I could do more via a hacked bios, but apperantly not based on the info I got from the page DigitalLove linked to.
