What are the possibilites if any with a lot of the beta drivers I see out there causing hardware damage?

I've personally never heard of any and in the past played a little here and there with some.

Any thought, ideas, or concerns I should have with playing with any of them?

I've been wondering about the ForceWare 83.40 Win2000/XP, that they have over at Guru3D:

Then the Nvidia 82.12 drivers:

THANKS

I've never heard of a beta driver causing hardware damage, nor have I experienced it, and I check out just about every driver that gets leaked on a range of cards.

Cool so have you tried either of these and do you know what might be a better driver for SLI and Dual Core support?

THANKS

IMHO 83.40 is better than 82.12

I can't comment on SLI or dual core support since I have neither at the moment.

Hardware damage is unlikely but nVidia beta drivers tend to suck chunks.

Still on the "Beta drivers suck" bandwagon are we? Amazing the lengths fanATics will go to in order to defend what ATi does...

I think you will find that if you asked enough nVidia owners that they would rate most Beta releases above the official releases. Strange, but true.

Which is what exactly? Releasing polished and WHQL drivers monthly that deliver fast bug fixes to customers? Yep, I really need to defend that.

Most nVidia owners would also admit to the likes of the DEP issue that existed for nine months or so, beta or no beta drivers. But then you're not most nVidia owners.

Not to mention if they're rating beta drivers as better than official drivers what does that tell you about nVidia's official driver quality?

I like the 82.12's I installed on my computer. I found them to be the "best" overall for me. Sped things up even from the NEWER 83.40's.

I was referring to your "performance" in the r580 drivers thread when nVidia beta drivers were brought up...

I never suffered any DEP issues with nVidia drivers, and I played the games that supposedly caused the problem too. I think, you should harrass punkbuster, not nVidia over that (would be fascinating to know if ATi owns any shares or gave any money to punkbuster BTW...)

Anyhow, I suggest you take 5150joker's advice. I have nothing further to say to you.

Personally, I've:

- Never had problems with any beta or WHQL ATI driver.
- Never had problems with any beta or WHQL NVIDIA driver.
- Never had DEP problems with any drivers (DEP completely enabled for all programs).

Did you even have a CPU capable of DEP?

Why should I harass punkbuster if it never was installed in my system?

Why should I harass punkbuster when the DEP issue was an nVidia driver problem?
