Nvidia & ATI "best drivers" question

Hi folks.

Got a question on both Nvidia & ATI cards, so I'll put this in the generic area. I currently play a lot of BF1942 w/ expansions, Dungeon Siege, Morrowind, Tron2.0, & Ut2k3(soon to be 2k4) while mild benching w/ 3DM2001 to see how system changes affect my scores, looking for drivers that'll work trouble-free with those.

I've currently got a Ti-4200@4400 specs w/ 4467 dets. Managed to get in on the crazy-go-nuts sale on BFG5900s(should be showing tomorrow, I just hope it works), so which Det version is generally best for 5900 series?

Also planning on picking up ATI 9500pro from a friend. Don't know a thing about ATI cards, so which ATI driver is generally the best performing/most compatible & trouble free?

Lastly. Since I've been running a 4200 for so long I've completely avoided the AA/AF side of things & instead concentrated on pure fps. What's considered the best all-around settings? Want a little eye candy on the new cards, but don't want to take a drastic performance nose dive.

Thanks
Miah

For the 5900s, the Forceware 53.03 is the best. But from I've heard over the past 24 hours is that NV is going to be releasing a new set of Forceware drivers that will give FX cards another significant performance gain. I can't wait to see if this for real.

As far as AA/AF settings, I just use "application controlled" and jack up the settings in the game. I have yet to manually tweak AA/AF on my 5900.

Thanks for the info. Heard elsewhere that 53.03 has some BF1942 issues w/ some cards, so am trying the 53.06s & haven't had any issues....yet.

Thanks again
Miah

Just checked nvidia's site they only list the 53.03 drivers. Where would you get the 53.06 or the latest Forceware drivers ?

Thanks for the info.

Jose
