Nvidia and Vsync

Why is that the Vista/Win7 driver architecture has been in use for years now yet Nvidia can't figure how to make the driver v-sync override work properly? I am annoyed by tearing, so I like to use vsync on all of my games (even those without built vsync), but it seems once again the drivers are broken. I know they can do it, because there have been releases where it worked fine, but it seems the latest drivers are broken again. I'm using Win7-64 so it might possibly be just the latest 64-bit drivers. Blah.

P.S. Sorry this is a QQ post i'm just aggravated.

Lol ill trade you, its impossible to turn off vsync on D3D 6- games with ATI hardware. Pretty hard trying to play starcraft with .5 seconds of mouse lag

I'm using D3D overrider from Riva Tuner to force V sync in all games. There is absolutely no game that doesn't have v sync now. Try it.

Good call. I didn't realize Riva did that. I use it religiously for fan control.

Ben90, Vsync shouldn't be causing any problems unless your not running triple buffering. All it does is limit framerate to your refresh, however without triple buffering it will usually limit to half that. I've played Starcraft many times with Vsync on with no problems. I use v-sync for everything. Also, there are recent patches for Starcraft that might help.
