Nvidia AC3 keys only work on UPlay?

the key is ONLY for the ubi store. its funny how many of you are surprised by this after all this time.

Well, I guess the days of considering free games as a selling point on a GPU have come to an end. It was fun while it lasted.

you can still sell them as many people dont care if its Steam activated or not. plus you have to use Uplay even if you have the game on Steam.

btw someone please buy my AC 3 code for 27 bucks. lol

You cannot sell those games here. NV's terms and conditions specifically forbid it

The rumor is that all keys are Uplay with the exception of EVGA who is giving out steam keys. Someone correct me if i'm wrong - this is what i've heard but i'm not the authority on the matter. I would definitely ask over at the EVGA boards to be sure.

Keep in mind that game keys involving ubi soft will be uplay 99% of the time. With ubisoft - steam keys are the exception, not the rule.

Blame Ubi, not Nvidia. My FC3 code from an AMD card I recently got is Uplay only too. Like Toyota said, Ubisoft games use Uplay regardless of being on Steam or not. Just consider any Ubisoft games to also require Uplay from now on, and you'll be good.

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess I gave in on Origin, so I'll tough it out with UPlay too. Pardon any whining on my part, I was honestly just surprised to find something that didn't work on Steam (naive as that may be).

So your moaning about a Free game just because Ubisoft dont want to pay steam their margin. Lol

If you think he's alone in preferring steam as a gaming hub, he's definitely not alone.. Steam is popular for a reason. I think most PC gamers would greatly prefer their games on steam - I would be one of those because with steam I never have to worry about losing game keys when I re-install windows, and steam keeps my saved games, screenshots, etc all in one hub. It also keeps all of my games patched with minimal hassle. Of course you can say "why complain about free stuff" but given a preference I would take steam any day. In fact, if I had to pay for Far Cry 3 I would pay more for a steam version than I would for a uplay key off amazon.com / gmg / etc. I really like the fact that steam takes care of updates for me in the background and always retains my gamekeys. Sifting through my email to find a long lost key when I re-install windows is a royal PITA.

If you buy from Steam you WILL be paying more. The pricing sucks. Retail boxes are always cheaper. A steam game for £39.99 can be less than £20 retail online.

When you install them they also get added to steam 90% of the time unless its EA.

But if your getting FREE games then basically you cant expect the company giving them free to actually pay steam their cut on top of the free game they are giving you.

Also i think uPlay will keep the games safe and patched. Its just another Origin/Steam type thing from Ubisoft.

I remember people hating steam and many still do. Downside is that every company who makes games will start to use their own portal pretty soon

Steam is more expensive in EU, true. In the states, where most stores don't even sell boxed PC games...it isn't really...boxed games are still popular in Europe, in the states (for PC games anyway) not so much.

Besides which, we can just buy steam keys from amazon.com and they have sale prices all the time.

Anyway, I guess you can't complain about free stuff but I definitely prefer using steam when possible.

We have keys for sale here too but i never buy Retail boxes from stores. We buy them online for next day delivery this is still cheapest way to buy believe it or not.

I got my FarCry 3 on saturday and I would also prefer Steam for another reason: I can redownload my game in the future. Is the same true for uPlay? If it is I saw no option to download. In fact I had to download 8.9GB and install before i realized it was uPlay.

But for serial numbers, I have those all in one spreadsheet, one tab for games, one tab for apps.

Thats not true at all, at least for the states.
