I wonder when the other GeForce 9 series cards will be released and reviewed? I'm looking forward to a 9800GTX/GTS/GT with good performance at a cheaper price.

All the reviews I read mentioned nothing of the other cards, what disappointment :(

What about 9800 GTS/GT? I'm guessing they want people to buy up these high end cards, then in a few months they will finally their mainstream affordable video cards.

Thought there was a thread about this. And think I saw the GT versions will show up a week after the GTX.

Which review is the best?

The AT review is just terrible. First of all, this is a GX2 card, meaning EVERYONE wants to know how it performs against SLI setups. 9600GT SLI is great, but what about everyone's favorite cards the 8800GT and 8800GTS? Come on.

Some reviews we see 3x 3870s, and some we see 2x only. I don't really get how sites do their reviews, but do yuo guys just take numbers from previous benches and throw them in because they use the same setup? If so, that's fine as long as you perform the SAME BENCHES EACH TIME, so at least you don't have numbers missing from your 9800 review.

then there's Hard OCP which compares 8800GT and 8800GTS also, but the settings are always different. You can't compare apples and oranges. I'm pissed. Sorry I haven't had time to thoroughly read all these articles, but it took a while just getting through the technical merits of the 9800GX2 and the changes and stuff. By the time I get to the charts I expect something good. I'll keep looking.

does this mean this thing can do SLI with another 9800 gx2? this could proabably play crysis with filtering in SLI i am guessing?

Well, G92 8800GTS:
1) Core is clocked 8.33% higher (650 vs 600)
2) Shaders are clocked 8.33% (1625 vs 1500)
3) Memory is 3% slower (1940 vs 2000)

For those looking at a new build, two MSI G92 8800GTSs for $490 ($430 AR) and pair it up with a 750i SLI motherboard ($150) and you are still at $580 AR - $20 less than the 9800GX2's $600 pricetag. 8800GT SLI + $150 750i motherboard would work up to $550.

This card's biggest competition is 8-series.

And that's GTS's at stock. Mine are clocked to 735/1825/2000. I'm sticking with what I have..

I think it's fair to compare this card to single-card solutions because it is, after all, a single card. It takes up 1 slot, works with any motherboard, regardless of SLI/XFire, and has none of the driver/dual monitor support issues of the dual-card setups. I think there is quite a bit to be said for that amount of performance in a single-slot solution.

Are you sure about that?

I don't think GX2s support dual monitors with multicard enabled. (the ATi 3870X2 did get this feature recently)

Personally, I am tempted to purchase the GX2. Part of that is because I paid $355 for my 8800GTS 512. With the step up, I pay another $250 and have myself a GX2.

However, there are other things to consider. For instance, when I upgrade my graphics card, I typically sell off my old one, or put it in another computer so friends can come over and play some games. However, if I upgrade to the GX2, that will not be possible and I will be down a card for my second rig.

So, I am torn... My 8800GTS plays every game I want at the resolutions I want, aside from Crysis. So, I guess the extra performance is for bragging only. Plus, I am scared to death about the potential driver issues that I think I will just keep my 8800GTS.

Another aspect of the GX2 is that it is so damn huge. That card is a brute force attempt at the crown and I really don't like the look of it. It feel liks the Voodoo 5 6000 type thing, where it was just a beast.

I think I will just wait for the next single card solution. Of course, it will likely cost as much, barely outperform the GX2, but at least it will be consistant, lower power and have new features and AA modes most likely. Pretty sure I will wait for G200.

well , your better of getting 2x 8800GT 512 SLI than a 9800GX2. It needs loads of driver tweaking as it has problem with profile for 8xQAA and variable resolution. example :

The 9800GX2 does not support multiple monitors with SLi enabled.

You do not need a SLi motherboard.
