They're not just sitting on their butts waiting for Ati. If the 8900 series will be using a new 80nm process then Nvidia has to make sure it's cost-effective for them before releasing the new cards.

Yeah, it sounds like NVIDIA is still sticking to it's own schedule regardless of what ATI does. They released the GTS 320, prices are dropping on the 640. The Midrange is due out next month and so I imagine the 8900 is on the same schedule. I don't remember how long it was between the 7800 and the 7900.

However the 8800ultra may be a R600 spoiler and they are probably sitting on it. Since it's probably made from cherry picked GTX cores, the longer the delay the more they can bin.

The 8800GTX/GTS only launched like 4 months ago, and the midrange 8-series cards haven't even launched yet... There is simply no need, either for us or NVIDIA, to launch the 8900s yet. Honestly, I think it would be a bad move to launch another high end card before the driver situation gets better.
