Nvidia 8800 GTX pics

Question about the power connectors shown in those pics. Why does each PCI-E power connector have two molex connectors on it?

Looks to me like someone just took 2 of those PCI-E to standard molex adapters and plugged them in, possibly for effect. The length is what concerns me, my X1900GT is already almost as long as my mobo is deep.

I think that's because each pci-e power connector requires 2 molex connecors when using an adapter. I'm running my x1900xt off an adapter, and it also requires 2 molex connectors.

I think they are just trying to show you that the card is backwards compatible with lower-end systems 😉 In all seriousness, maybe that was the second card out of an sli system and the other two pci-e connectors were already used for the first damn card:disgust:

Remember guys don't buy the thing at launch... wait atleast 2 weeks and i bet you the price will drop by $100+. You don't want to be the people that bought 7800GTX 512MB $800 from frys at launch.

I haven't had a game PC for over a year. I'm buying the week it comes out.

As I said in the other thread, one interesting thing on this card is the dual SLI connectors. What's that all about?

I hope the initial supply is good enough that we don't see another gougefest. The 7800GTX 512MB is an extreme example of that because there were such a tiny number of them. At least this time there are 2 cards at launch.

if you wait there might not be supply

G80 demand will outstrip supply
ndications are that G80s will disappear as they launch and that there will be in tight supply for the first six weeks at least.

If you want one, be sure to order it on the 7th or 8th as soon as they go online, as you might need to wait a while for the second batch.

IF i WANTED one i would not wait. 😉

I wonder why the dual SLI connectors? Is it for future compatibility when they make dual-GPU boards or do they need extra bandwidth with SLI?

The Lian-Li PC-7B case is a mid-tower but may be able to fit this card depending on the positioning of your motherboards PCI-e slots. It has a rather large gap in between the hard drive cage and the 3.5" drive cage that would allow something to stretch from the back of the case all the way to the front.

It would fit fine in my Stacker case, but I'm not about to buy it given that the games I'm into these days are all several years old. 😛
