I might be blind, because I can not find a setting to override a games refreshrate to use the same as the desktops. In doom 3 I get 60 Hz for an example.

I had such a function with the x800xl card that still is in my signature. And I would like to be able to do this override again.

Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

There is an Override setting in the DirectX utility where you can set this - it's in the last Tab (More Help I think).

You can type com_fixedTic -1 to override the 60 FPS cap in the console but that will cause game physics to go out of sync (i.e. like you're going superspeed) . . .

FPS = Frames Per Second, that is not equal to Refresh Rate (Measured in Hz).

Gstanfor: Thank you for that information.
Wanderer27: I have done so, but that only applies for Direct3D games, and does not affect OpenGL, such as Doom3.

I don't think you can force refresh rate for OpenGL . . . not even the Catalyst drivers let you do that I don't think . . .

1Dark1Sharigan1: The Catalyst allowed me to do it, and I did it with the detonator drivers back when I had my GeForce4 Ti4200 card. It is possible, but not easily done. Unfortunately, I do not remember at all how I did when I last was running detonator drivers. And I doubt that if I did remember that it would be the same today. It seems the detonator drivers have come a long way since I last was using them :)

I finally found how you do it on the nVidia cards. Download and apply Coolbits 2.0 and you get an extra tab in the Forceware settings where you can select the refreshrates. It overrides both D3D and OpenGL refreshrates.
