In terms of speed? ATi card. In terms of features? Geforce. SM3.0 and all the goodies (2.0b for Radeons X800/X850).
 
It's a tough choice. If you're talking stock 7600GT I'd go X850XT....... but get the XFX 7600GT XXX (590/1600 I believe) for $217 @ Monarch, I'd recommend that over an X850XT PE.
 
SM3 is too important to miss out on now - even 'not so new' games like Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory only give choice of SM1 or SM3 and the difference between those is noticeable. Plus 7 Series will have improved HDR efficiency amongst other things. The card has advantage of lower power consumed too

Chaos Theory has a SM2 patch, which makes it look almost the same as SM3, including HDR. I tried it back when I had my x800. But if SM3 is important to you, then get the 7600gt.
