Nvidia 7600 GT vs X850 XT PE

7600GT hands down,

In terms of speed? ATi card. In terms of features? Geforce. SM3.0 and all the goodies (2.0b for Radeons X800/X850).

It's a tough choice. If you're talking stock 7600GT I'd go X850XT....... but get the XFX 7600GT XXX (590/1600 I believe) for $217 @ Monarch, I'd recommend that over an X850XT PE.

How come the scores are almost the same in 3dmark05 the 7600 GT XXX and the X850 XT then when you hit 3dmark06 the 7600 GT XXX kills the x850 xt?

I saw the X850 XT score a 2100 and i saw the 7600 GT XXX score a 3825 this is in 3dmark06?

Everything X850 can do, 7600GT can do comfortably. Not the same the other way around.

SM3 is too important to miss out on now - even 'not so new' games like Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory only give choice of SM1 or SM3 and the difference between those is noticeable. Plus 7 Series will have improved HDR efficiency amongst other things. The card has advantage of lower power consumed too

Chaos Theory has a SM2 patch, which makes it look almost the same as SM3, including HDR. I tried it back when I had my x800. But if SM3 is important to you, then get the 7600gt.
