I udated my drivers from 71.84 to 71.89 because I intend on using my Geforce6800 256MB card in an SLI setup. The new drivers have improvements when using SLI. Unfortunately freaking Nvidia removed the overclocking page from the driver panel!!!! Without O/C'ing my Geforce6800 w/256MB has the ram clocked at 600mhz. A full 100mhz slower than what it should be. Before the new drivers I had the card clocked at 400/700 rock solid.

No, I use the forceware driver's overclocking page. Anyways, I rebooted and it came back. Weird.

since were on the topic of O/Cing wondering if anyone could help me out.

From what I've heard most people have no problems using the detect optimal frequencies option for finding the speed there gfx card can run at. I however, am having no such luck. I have tried all kinds of different drivers and I never get it to adjust. I have the BFG OC 6800 GT w/ 3dguru drivers 76.10 at the moment. The only thing I can think of is I have dual monitors and that might be causing the problems. So i guess my question has 2 parts. Anyone having the same trouble and could my dual monitors be at fault ?

You have to 1st install coolbits (im assuming you did this already)

In the coolbits tab you hit the "detect optimal" button and it runs a series of tests then sets it

You hit apply, and that speed is applied to the card until your next restart.

If you want it to stay beyond that, you have to check the "Apply these settings at startup" box, and hit apply again.

If you have stability problems when you are starting windows and do not want it to load the overclocked settings, hold CTRL while windows is starting up and it will disable the coolbits overclocking.

i don't think there is a "coolbits tab" unless i have downloaded the wrong registry additons. I always go to the Clock Frequency settings.
Shown here

When i click detect optimal frequencies it shows up and says testing new settings flickers a second and goes right back to my desktop

It should flicker, but the clockspeeds should change and the clock frequencies window should still be open.

Yes the clock frequencies window is the correct one, coolbits tab is just what i call it for some odd reason

Does it close the window and crash to the desktop or something similar? ive never seen that happen before ( i work with a ton of NV based systems).

it just goes about 4 bars into the proccess of testing. Doesn't flicker like i typed earlier, simply goes back to the coolbits page and no settings are adjusted

Just edit the registry yourself.

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE>>Software>>Nvidia Corp>> NVTWEAK : Then insert a DWORD value named "Coolbits" with a hexadecimal value of 3. Or you could just use the Xtreme G Drivers which have it installed and the other settings optimized.
