Nvidia 6800 Power question

This is prolly pretty dumb but....

Does an nvidia 6800 card need two power supplies plugged in or only if you're running two monitors?

I'm going to guess that you're talking about the AGP 6800 Ultra, in which case it needs both of the molex connectors attached at all times, because that card sucked a lot of power. Also, both connectors should be on seperate cables from the PSU if it is at all physically possible to do so.

yaeh the 6800 ultra agp always needs 2 power plugs.

if you have a really strong 12v rail you can do it with 1. it dosent mater how many monitors you are using, peak power use is during 3d video.

i know the GT and standard only need 1 plug. on pci-e most of them have 0 or 1 plug.
