Would the power supply have enough juice to run a 6800 video card and a Audigy 2 ZS sound card?

Yes ... If you have the 250 watt silentX. Shuttle also makes a 300 watt PSU for your Shuttle if you want to upgrade the PSU. If you have the older 200 or 220 watt PSU, I would certainly get the 300 watter. I had a MSI 6800 GT running in a SB75G2 ( uses the same 250 watter ) and SB61G2 * which I sold ) and look at the stuff I have running in my current Shuttle setup ( see sig ).

The card will run a little hotter since it is so cramped in there, so I would recommend replacing the stock fan with a ThermalTake A1357 ( or similar ultra-high-speed ) fan to keep things cooler. I remember the MSI 6800GT hitting 63°C when I was benching it with 3D Mark 03/05, but this is with the 75 CFM fan installed running at 3600 RPM @ 54 dBA.

The only requirement for your 6800 would that it use a single-slot HSF and the Audigy 2 ZS would take up your only PCI slot. If you are not a real audiophile, the onboard 5.1 audio works just fine for music playback, games, etc.

I didn't know Shuttle offers a 300W SilentX upgrade. I was just thinking that with a s478, 800MHz FSB Prescott and a 6800 vanilla, you'd already be at 178W. Add on a HDD, optical drive, memory, USB keyboard/mouse, case fans and the Audigy, and you'd be at ~270-280W (using the PSU calculator). So I'd definitely get the 300W if possible.

Does the A1357 replace the ICE fan? Isn't 54dBA a bit loud for the setup? I am debating whether to shrink the computer and making it more quite OR get the P180 case for everything using standard components.

Doesn't the onboard audio take up CPU cycles when playing games?

But the 300W PS will add another 80 bucks or so to the cost though.

Yes. You just take out the Sunon and install the ThermalTake. Higher noise ... that's the price you pay for more cooling. :( It is quite a bit louder than the stock fan, but it really doesn't bother me that much since I wear headphones and have pretty good speakers that can deliver 70 watts RMS per speaker.

I also use a potentiometer to adjust the fan speed down when I need it to be quiet. Also keep in mind that the stock Sunon will do 42.5 CFM @ 3200 RPM while the TT A1357 will do 20 CFM @ 1300 RPM up to 75 CFM @ 4800 RPM.

Yes. I guess the onboard sound will use CPU cycles, but I don't notice any lag in my games. I would rather use the one PCI slot for something like a TV tuner.

A link for the Shuttle PC50 300 watt PSU.
