nvidia 650m ddr3@900p vs radeon 7730m ddr3@768p

i am going to buy a laptop in the next 2 days. i have shortlisted 2 models with the following specs:
1) core i7-3610qm with 2gb ddr3 nvidia 650m @ 1600x900 res
2) core i7-3632qm with 2gb ddr3 radeon 7730m @ 1366x768 res
which one will give higher fps for games at resolution given above?
need a reply asap.

GT 650M is faster than HD 7730M. so if both cards are run at the same resolution the GT 650M will give higher fps. at different resolutions its difficult to tell. But the 1600 x 900 resolution has 37% more pixels than 1366 x 768. so definitely if both cards are run at resolution as you mention the HD 7730M will give higher fps because of a lower resolution.

I'm also looking at a 7730m in a Dell 15r Special Edition but it has 1920x1080 screen.

I'mn not comparing it to a 650m, but just wondering how the 7730m is going to perform in games at 1080p ? It has an i7 too but I don't think that matters much.

Well it should be about as fast as a GT640m (probably can OC a little faster, to 7750/7770m speeds). At stock I'd guess the 7730m is +/- 10% vs these GT640m benchmarks at 1080p (depending on which architecture the game favors):

Batman: Arkham City Very High 4xAA 46 FPS
Battlefield 3 Medium 32.6 FPS
Civilization V Low 32.3 FPS
DiRT 3 High 4xAA 45.8 FPS
Portal 2 Max 4xAA 57.8 FPS
Skyrim Ultra 4xAA 30.8 FPS
Total War: Shogun 2 High 34.8 FPS

I know you say you are only considering these two laptops, but you would really be better off for any kind of moderate to heavy gaming with at least the GDDR5 version of the 640m or higher (650m, 660m, etc.) I believe anything above the 640m only comes with GDDR5. DDR5 gives you twice the bandwidth of DDR3.

But of the two you listed, I would go with the first one, as others have said.
