I understand that 6200 TC shares some of the main memory when needed, I have my memory running at 278 mhz would that cause any issues like in the case of the integrated nvidia GPUs such as the 6100 (which I have heared that can't handle more than 440 FSB) ? Or it does it have no effect due to it being a PCI-e card ?

I am asking the questions above becasue I have sold my X800XL and I am getting rid of Windows on my system and want a basic card that will support 3D in Linux, for some simple FPS games.

afaik 6200 non-tc is actually better than tc and has a chance to be unlocked/oced as well

I'm guessing it would be fine, as long as your PCI bus is locked The video card doesn't have direct access to the RAM, it has to go through the chipset first. Since it doesn't have direct access to the RAM you don't have to worry about the TC not knowing about the timings of the RAM.

Of course I have no proof or experience in this matter.

Your argument makes a lot of sense, but I would prefer to be sure and if I can hear this from someone here.

Or spend $10 more and get the non-TC version, and then this becomes a non-issue.

I found this on ZipZoomfly.com it looks very good for the price, 128-bit, 128MB PCI-e non TC $ 93.99, all I am hoping for is that this runs smoothly on Fedora Core 4.

Oh, sorry - I forgot that you want PCIE

Then cant you get a TC that has dedicated memory and tell it not use system memory?

Aackk... get a 6600 or 6600GT in the FS/FT section. Got a brand new Chaintech for $110 shipped. IIRC, there was (is?) a deal on a 6600 for ~$90 or so.
