I haven't heard anything about these lately. I was wondering if anybody had any speculation on when we should begin seeing these hit the stores. Should I wait for them or just get a GTX 280 now. I'm building a new i7 system and can't put it together till after dec. 5th anyway cause thats when the CPU water block I want comes out. So I'll wait till at least then. I was hoping it's be out by then.

I'm just guessing, but it seems logical that a 55nm 260/270 will appear first. It's like a clearing house right now, while 280 prices remain steady. Sure you don't want to grab a couple 260 core 216's instead of a single 280? Tough call to say wait when no one really knows. Go with a step-up brand either way and you're good...

55nm NVIDIA GPUs are already around. Oh, you mean the GTX 260/280. I'm under NDA so I can't tell you. *SHRUG*

Most 9800 GTX+ are 55nm (all BFG are), and some 9800 GT are (upcoming BFG 9800 GT OC2 and OCX models).

Yea me too. My 260 216's arrive today. If there's something worth stepping up to, fine. If not, nice cards with killer performance on the x58 platform. Taking off early from work today..

There was a long list of FUD predictions that started with early November. The last article I read that seemed somewhat credible predicted the 55nm would show up the 2nd week of December.

So I'm grinding my teeth untill then...... again......

damn, nice rig. Two or three cards? Cuz the NV200 has some nasty Tri-SLi scaling. Almost always makes the 3rd card worth it.

Two cards, not sure I want to venture to Tri-Sli land yet. Rig is ready for it though. I'll post some pics and stuff this weekend. She's a beauty.. :)

If you're feeling brave, you could scrape off the goop and check the cores. :) From all the rumors I've read, it sounds like there's going to be a chip lottery starting around now with the 55nm silently replacing the 65nm in channel for the GTX 200 series. I wouldn't bank on the 260 vanilla as its EOL and probably all old 65nm stock, but the c216 with a higher inventory turnover rate would probably start turning up 55nm as soon or faster than the GTX 280.

I can see one side of the cores, still looks like 65nm. Will test then flash to 650/1400 later. Gawd this Rampage II is nice! Updated the bios and checking out the features. For kicks I did a cpu level up and took my 920 to a 965 with ease. It adjusted everything automatically. Will do higher manual oc testing later. Highly, highly impressed so far..

just buy from a store with 30 days no questions asked return policy from a manufacturer with a step up... if it misses both of these deadlines, well, did you really intend to wait that many months? that is the whole POINT of those programs... to encourage people to buy NOW instead of waiting.
And when it comes out later... ebay step up (sell old card on ebay, buy new one with proceeds and then some)
