I have a BFG 295 GTX, the fan is worn out and is very loud. It is a single pcb but the aftermarket fans or coolers are almost non existence.

Do you know any good, high quality fans that you could recommend? I'm not looking to water cool it since its over kill for what I needed.

Thanks.

I don't think BFG exists anymore, so it might be hard to source a fan. Is it a reference design? If so you might be able to find out what fans were being used on the 295 reference models.

You can probably replace it with a 92mm fan cut out of the cage. Only drawback would be that it won't be controlled by the GPUs fan controller.

And yes, BFG no longer exists. Don't ask me how I know.

I know you said you don't want to watercool it but I happen to have 2 swifteck blocks just sitting here... =). I would also be willing to trade something for the card itself if you were looking to go that route.

I never realized that BFG had horrible past of using cheap graphic card fan and plus it a little sadden to learn that BFG went belly up.

I'm planning take off the cover and attach 2 60mm fan on both heat sink and have both fans run off from the PSU.

Does anyone knows if I remove the stock bfg fan, will it give a fan error in POST?

Eh, what lavaheadache said, plus - 60mm fans, I hope you like the acrid smoke of burning semiconductors. If you can mount a couple of 92 mm case fans over it, or maybe higher flow 80's. IIRC, the GTX 295s ran hot as hell.

Heh, I have a BFG branded Danger Den block somewhere...

It was the Nvidia reference fan that ALL of the cards from all brands used. Nothing to do with it being a BFG brand in particular, and (likely) everything to do with dust contamination from not being cleaned enough.

You might be able to oil the fan motor and get a bit more life out of it.

The single PCB 295 has dual heatsinks under the cover, one over each GPU. Yes you can put a fan on each, but the heatsinks are more "open" for cross-airflow. IMO you are better off using a 92mm fan (suitably modded) in place of the original fan.

It won't give any such error.

IIRC, the GTX 295s ran hot as hell.

The dual PCB units did. The single PCB unit did not (as much).
