PC running great last night, decided i'd upgrade to 175.16 and see if it made any difference over 169.21 (I'm a curious guy, what can I say). Everything went great, rebooted, and I'm immediately greeted by "DISK READ ERROR, PRESS ENTER TO CONTINUE" immediately after post.

175.16 almost killed my entire system as well. Windows XP would hang on it and all other 170+ drivers.

Running 8800gt SLI and the 169.21 were only half-way stable by comparison. I'm currently on beta 169.09 but will do more driver exploration this weekend after finals.

Had to do a chkdsk and fixmbr + fixboot with the windows CD as 175 series drivers even borked safe mode!

I went back to beta driver 169.12 (from 11/17/07) for my 8800gts after random errors and reboot/recover errors with most of the newer drivers -- especially while playing COD4. Haven't had a problem since and FPS performance is essentially the same or better than with the newer ones. I'm on Vista btw

Using 175.16 on my 8800gtx works great.
On the second comp with the 8600gt I had to revert back to 169.25. After I installed the new ones after some use it would come up with an error that superfetch stopped working. Aero would turn off and the pc would not play any media file. Only fix was to do a restart. This happened both for the previous windows install and the new install I did yesterday.
