NVIDIA 15.01 chipset drivers out

Installed yesterday. I see NVIDIA updated their driver page on Monday, although the driver date listed on their page is July 2. Maybe it's a typo.

Anyway, so far so good, I guess. I've noticed a slight uptick in disk i/o, network i/o and overall responsiveness. We'll see if I get the BSODs that occured randomly after a few hours or days after coming out of hibernation when I was using the 15.00.

I formatted and reinstalled Vista 3 weeks ago and decided to not install the 15.00s. I had no issues at all and hibernation worked perfectly, unlike with the 15.00s that randomly bluescreened. Strange. Leaving the default drivers that came with Vista seemed to work just fine and there were some SATA and PCI bridge driver updates that came in through windows update, so I figured that I could probably skip the whole chipset driver package deal altogether. But when I saw the 15.01 was out, I said 'what the heck' and gave it a shot.

Hopefully some folks can post some comments/experiences with the new driver. Pretty dissapointing that it's such a slight revision -- .01? Sheesh. I also wonder how soon till another update comes along.

just installed it, seems more stable than 15.00, cant comment on speed, seem the same to me, which has been out for a long long time, and gave me loads of trouble.
Still no sound driver in this version, as oppose to xp drivers. does nvidia gave up on this area for vista? i really hate using realtek driver, it's really bloated, used lot resources, and installed lot of services in memory

Here's my feedback for what its worth,I have tried Vista's default drivers when I first installed Vista back in Jan, did not experience any problems,then installed 15.00s they were also ok,today I installed the 15.01 with Nvidia SW IDE driver and still no problems or any real speed difference.

This is on Vista x64 HP,so no complaints and to be honest never had any chipset problems ever with Vista and my nForce 4 Ultra board.

How does the stock Vista drivers work with the Nforce3 chipset? The Vista drives for the Nforce4 chipset were pretty solid over all.

Horrible from what I hear over at nforcershq.com and forums.nvidia.com. The AGP Gart drivers are terrible, you cannot use Vista if you have an nforce3 with a dual core CPU and an ATI card. It is far slower than XP otherwise (due to the lack of AGP drivers).

Yeah I see a lot of people struggling to get acceptable performance with nf3 chipsets under Vista. I'd avoid using Vista with an nf3 board especially since NVIDIA has basically said they're only going to work on driver improvements for Nforce4 and up.

I don't do SLI so my next build will probably be a Intel P35 board. I think I am done with Nvidia chipsets if this is how they are going to treat their customers. From the looks of what is going on with Barcelona, It looks like Intel is going to stay on top of the performance race for some time anyhow.

I just installed the 15.01 chipset drivers and i do not see any difference in performance yet. My experience index stayed exactly the same (5.1). Here is a list of the subscores.

CPU 5.1
RAM 5.9
Aero 5.9
Gaming 5.2
PHD 5.3

Update -- resuming from hibernation hasn't resulted in a BSOD, but I did notice strange bursts of colors when I load CS:S. The main screen has all sorts of strange dots and squares all over it, almost like artifacting. I get crap FPS if I try to play it. A reboot fixes the problem.

You know, I'm starting to think that the problem is relating to my video card. I've always had some strange speckling on some desktop elements, like a colorized burst when the mouse pointer changes from a standard arrow to a hand or whatnot. I'm beginning to think that my card is what's borking out upon resume. I'm on the verge of getting a new one -- perhaps a 7900GS to replace my 6800GS. Maybe this will solve it. We'll see.

Do you have an option in your BIOS to 'Repost Video on S3 Resume'? If you do, enable it and it might help.
