Nvidia 12.41 vs Detonator XP

I currently use a Geforce2MX video card with version 6.50 drivers. I've used the 12.41s for a while but found that they 'locked out' some features that, to me, were vital, so I switched down to the 6.50, only to recently realize that the DirectX renderer is kinda funky (it causes my mouse cursor to 'delay' before moving in both UT and Deus Ex. When switched to OpenGL renderer, this 'delay' wasn't a problem). I'd like to try the Detonator XP drivers, but I've heard a number of people say they've hadd issues with them. From what I've read, Detonator XP's performance goes up in most cases, but I'd much rather go with stable drivers then possibly buggy ones.

I use a 32 3d Prophet II MX card, Athlon 900, 256mb RAM. Which should I go with, 12.41 or Detonator XP?

Actually, I found that Guillemot has posted their own take on the nVidia drivers version 14.10 for Guillemot cards (though I'm sure they work on most Geforces). Since I've got a Guillemot card, would I be best off using these drivers?

I`m using the new Nvidia 21.81 drivers now with no problems, my MX card is working great in games,I would use Nvidia drivers they are newer.

I'll see how things go. These 14.10's from Guillemot are working fine so far, if I feel like trying Det XP later on then I'll give it a shot.

I am using a generic GeForce2 MX 400 (Torica) and have not had a single problem with the new drivers. I am not a benchmark fanatic, but I have seen no performance decreases, nor degredation of image quality.

IMNSHO nVidia 'leaks' drivers to let the tweakers and performance guru's play, but when they release 'official' drivers I suspect they are pretty darn bulletproof. After all, they are the baseline drivers that nVidia would like the average user of their product to run with.

I'd give them a try. What is the worst that could happen? Stripping out the XP drivers and reloading old ones. Not an overly onerous task.

True, true. Who knows, I'll probably give it a shot later.
