nVidea Card Coparisons

I received a new nVidea 9800GT card from BFG Technology.
When I ran diagnostics on it (including directx 9) it said it was an 8800GT not a 9800GT.
Also when I was making some setting changes, the screen said 8800GT so I don't think I actually got the 9800GT. The labeling on the card was for a 9800GT.
I was in touch with BFG and gave them all the critical info. and they said to send it back to them.
I don't want to be without my card while they decide what they might do for me.
Is there much difference iln the two cards?
Should I just keep the 8800 or wait for the 9800 which is the one I ordered and payed for?
I would appreciate your comments.
Thnx

There's absolutely no difference between the 2 cards. It would be your call to return it but you are wasting your time honestly.

Oy vey...

The short explanation is that the 9800GT is just a rebadged 8800GT. So from a performance point of view, it's questionable if it's worth the effort to get it exchanged for a "real" 9800GT, especially if you need a card right away.

Actually, there is one difference: SLI. You have to have the same model card to set up an SLI rig, so if that's something you would consider doing in the future you will want to return it for a 9800GT.

Otherwise, meh...just use it and don't worry, 8800GT = 9800GT.

If you wait long enough it will be automatically upgraded to a GT200 series or something like that. Free upgrade! The bummer is that it won't offer anymore performance. :-/
