those are them, just that now they are an option insted of a built in "cheat".

actually there is no such thing as a "quality" level ~ its a farce.
set it to high quality and forget about it.

how can a optimization decrease performance?

and if the trilinear ops give better iq and performance...why arent they jus always on, and not given a turn off option

this is for a 5900 i see.... i have a 6800gt same applies?

IGN, as ususal, has no clue what they are talking about. Disregard their comments on the matter. Ops on for peformace, off for image quality.

By definition an optimization increases performance.

They give better performance, not better IQ.

..why arent they jus always on,

Because a lot of people like to control them. Also it removes the cheat blame from nVidia because everyone is free to control them as they wish.
