Nvida to ATI

So I am going from Nvidia to ATI.

Some websites recommend doing a reformat. I definitely don't want to do that.

Is it okay to just run driver cleaner after uninstalling nvidia drivers and then install ATI drivers? And vice versa if I am going from ATI to Nvidia?

Exactly 😉 Reformatting shouldn't be a part of a hardware component installation.

In the Windows '98 and prior era, a reformat wouldn't be a terrible idea. But with XPsp2 or Vista and drivercleaner you'll be fine.

Go in to safe mod
Start up Driver cleaner pro
Uninstall everything related to Nvidia driver
do a restart and to make sure every thing is uninstalled

Then Shut down computer
Install the ATI GPU
Start up comp
Boot up into Normal Windows XP mode
Install .net 2.0
Restart computer
Install ATI driver
Restart computer
Check everything is working alright and then go into driver control planel and change the setting to your liking
restart computer to make sure all the setting have taken into effect
Then play your games 🙂

There's no need to reformat. Uninstall the Display Drivers though "Add/Remove Programs" and then reboot into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner. Then put in your new card and install the new drivers.
