Has Anyone tested this new driver yet? I just did and It gave me a score of 13575! Thats an bit of an increase from my last posted marks. Before the install, I tried everything to increase the marks but to no avail. So, the 1st time I installed the drivers, I tested and It gave me this score. If anyone has not yet tested, please do and let me know if this is a glitch ,luck or some other matter other than the real thing....Here is my old score. The new one I will post as soon as the site is available.

Thanks!!!!😎

Went from 8650 to 8943!

Gainward GF3 @ 225/510

AMD XP 2000+ Unlocked @ 1.786ghz

I really want 9000 but everything I have is tweaked to the maxed in the bios at least...

Any suggestions?

Seems to me that is a pretty good increase! Glad to hear it! As for sugestions, Make sure you have nothing running in background and also make sure you have Both vsync's turned off on your vid card. 😎

First, be aware they are BETA drivers. Secondly, some are reporting the ONLY improvement they are getting is in 3DMark2001 - not games.

For a full discussion (especially read pages 3 & 4)

NVIDIA Unleashes Detonator 40

EDIT: Shouldn't this be in Software? (I just looked)

there is a big talk in video Here basically the only increase is in 3Dmarkonly really seein a 1-2 FPS increase in real games. my 3d mark score wernt from 10469 to 11487 TI4600 (315/750).

My 3dMark score went from 11381 to 13217..

And the overclocking on my card was less with the newer drivers 5 from clock, 40 from memory.. :Q

i tell you if 3DMark wasn't so damn popular and so important these days maybe the driver team at Nvidia might start optimizing for real games.

I was pretty excited to be honest, but as i think about it, 600-1k more 3d marks probably means only 1-3% better game performance. Maybe 5% in resolutions and setting that are too slow to play game.

ditto...its almost amusing seeing people compare 3DMark scores without actually having a clue as to their real world performance.

i agree too...
but on the other hand...I will not ever hesitate one bit for anything that gives any kinda of performance increase for FREE unless it harms the sytem. 😀

Read the OTHER thread . . . Det 40 performance is BELOW the older drivers EXCEPT 3DMark2001.

some say quake 3 gain minimal performance...i don't really care what other say tho...i only care for my own system...so if i haven't test it out yet...i will not be satisfy

unless it harms the sytem

That's all gonna depend upon how you define "harm"

Putting me back at 60Hz gaming would fall under my harm category as would decreasing my video image quality.

With the exception of bragging rights, (which are under much scrutiny with the det. 40s), I think you'll be much happier overall with 30.82

I just installed the new Dets, and only am currently playing MOHAA, The game is much clearer than Any of the previous drivers I used, and my 3dmarkse score is now 14024, which was previously in the high 12's. I like em.

Ummmmmmmmm.....

ATi Radeon 9700 + nVIDIA Detonator 40.41 drivers = ???

Anyone else see the syntax error there?

Maybe if ATi makes drivers that also improve the performance of the Radeon 9700 by 25%, then we might see 20,000 3DMarks. But I don't think nVIDIA develops their Detonator drivers for ATi hardware. Something about a compability issue... 😛

The drivers seem to be working fine in my system, that is all that matters to me. And as for "the real world of gaming" It seems to be working pretty stable. That is what I am shooting for.... I will try them once and if they are crap, Out they go...But If they work well and I see inmprovements then Why not just let em ride! So, Until the next drivers come out..................😀

Enjoy All......

You might want to look at this thread. Text
"A lot of the improvements in performance are due to improved efficiency in the driver code that effect vertex and pixel shaders. That is why the jump in Nature. A big jump can be seen in Aquanox, too, another app that uses vertex shaders and pixel shaders. Apps that use pixel and vertex shaders also just happen to be the ones that are popular for benchmarking. Games that do not use vertex and pixel shaders may not see as significant of an improvement as games that do."
