Nvelo's "Dataplex" software?

I am looking for software to turn a small SSD into a cache only drive for a standard platter Hard Drive.

Nvelo's "Dataplex" software has been mentioned as that type of software but as far as I know, it is unavailable to the general public? I could be wrong...

Here is Nvelo's web address: http://www.nvelo.com/index.html

Click on the products Tab for more info on the software they are offering...

I have searched Google and the Forums here and have not found anything. Maybe someone here has more information or an alternative.

Fun for experimenting or if you have a specific issue that it solves. I doubt it's worth the trouble (time and money-wise) especially if you use Vista/7 with enough RAM.

Razel,
I appreciate your reply.

The application for my interest is helping my Father. My Pop has his own business and runs everything off of his desktop PC. Windows based, I believe he has an INtel Core 2 Quad with an Intel generic board. The reason I am asking about a "Cache only drive" is because he runs a large database and too many programs all at the same time. This causes his computer to suffer quite a bit. Have you ever seen someone with 20 plus programs running at the same time? That is my Dad...

My goal is two-fold:
1. Help with restart times and speed up the computer
2. Assist RAM as there are so many programs running simultaneously.

My main obstacle:
1. He refuses to reinstall his OS/programs on a new SSD.

How can I help without the need to reinstall all of his junk or mess around with ghosting his drives, etc.

Thanks for the help everyone.....

The Silverstone will do what you're asking for. I read a review, sorry don't remember where... maybe bit-tech? Check on installing more ram though, you'll get a much bigger boost from that when running that much stuff.

It starts by copying the first X GB off the HDD, where X is the size of the SSD you use. Then it watches data usage and optimizes what's on the SSD.
