NV40, up close and personal.

Would have been nice to get one of these instead of my 5950 but thats OK I'll wait until I build myself a PCI Express PC or when the prices of these seems nice.

I love the industrial stainless steel look. Is that a heatpipe on the heatsink there I see? hmm...interesting. Dual dvi? hmm....spuzz...BENCHMARKS!!! NOW! I WANT ! THEM! NOW ! THEM ! WANT! BENCHES!

mm yes, it is very pleasing. Looks like a nice industrial stove. Come to think of it, this thing probably makes as much heat as a stove too.

I'll save my splooging until I see some benches, but I really hope a lot fewer GF6800s end up with single power connectors, or that will limit my choice of graphics card somewhat.

Could just be an "unfinished" pre-production sample or something like that.

That actually has a much larger diameter "cage" type fan which would allow it to rotate slower but give the same CFM as a smaller diameter high speed fan. I'm looking at my 5900U fan in comparison. This NV40 fan looks about twice the diameter of my 5900U fan.

Hey guys check out latest specs and prices on digit-life.com

What the hell is going on?

X800se 128-bit, 450/800, 8 pipelines - $299 VS. Geforce 6800 400/1100 16 pipelines, 256-bit - $299
oookkkk THIS IS GONNA BE A BATTLE :Q

Moving on

X800Pro 256-bit 500/1000, 12 pipelines - $399 VS. Geforce 6800 400+/1100 16 pipelines, 256-bit - $299
$100 cheaper might actually get you more performance....oh oh 😀

And

X800XT 256-bit 600/1200, 16 pipelines - $499 VS. Geforce 6800 Ultra 400+/1200 16 pipelines, 256-bit - $399
So here ATI might beat Nvidia if Nvidia's core clock is about 450-500 but this extra 10% performane will come at $100 more? Also Geforce 6800 non-ultra isn't far away from these specs either and costs an astounishing $200 less !

I hope ATI performs a lot better than its specs or it's in trouble.

Benchmarks > Speculation.

We shall see what happens. As I've said before many a time, whichever card meets my needs best will be the one purchased.

Yeah but the specs are confirmed. So it's clear ATI's first 2 cards are in for a rough ride especially since they cost = or > than a faster solution. Unless something major happens like ATI's cards have a turbo button or Nvidia has 8 pipelines instead of full 16, I dont see how an 8 or 12 pipeline solution having lower RAm speed and equal GPU speed could keep up.

If those price points are correct Ill be jumping for joy!

299 which means by the fall it should be around 225 bucks w00t!

And I agree if all ATI can come up with is a 8 pipe card for that price range they will have tough go of it.
