Oh look, a repost of an earlier thread, and no, it isn't confirmed yet - it's NOT official.

That said, I'm cautiously optimistic. Let's hope Nvidia pulls it off.

The Inquirer is official now is it? That Nv30 that was supposed to be 30-50% faster than the 9700pro that the Inquirer reported on sure materialized didnt it. :)
You make it sound like ATi's awesome 8x1 solution is as easy to make as taking a pee. Let me assure you its not an easy design it will take some time for Nvidia to catch up.
To say they're going to poof a 16x1 architecture out of the air is frankly amusing. I'd bet anyone Paypal money that it wasnt going to happen but Nvidia has a penchant for blatantly lying about the number of pipelines their cards have so Nvidia will probably claim their next card is 16 pipelines even if its 4. :D

The Inquirer confirmed it, yet its not confirmed. So who confirms it so that it will be officially confirmed?
Who's word will you take? I am also a costly optometrist.. er I mean cautiously optimistic.. :)

I dont know if that would be a steps backwards for NV. So no clue. 32bit precision could become standard. So it would make sense for them to stay I guess.

Keep in mind that nVidia said their NV30 had 8 pipelines before its release so I'm banking that the NV40 will have an 8x2 solution. Even that is quite a leap!

Am I the only person who doesn't care which company makes the better card? Ill buy whichever card is the best, be it the NV40 or the R420. I just want the best performance/quality for my money.

Do you like sports Excelsior? Like football? Any particular team you root for? Or do you not care what team wins. Point is, this is like techno sports, and all of us tech nuts are all talkin smack before the big game. Thats all. If you want to buy the best price/performance card at the
time, then thats ok. Go for it. Other folks obviously like to root for their favorite team. Nobody's forcing you to be a part of it. :)

Not going to happen. ATi is going to have to move to FP32 at some point(likely with their R500), nV is already there they aren't going to regress and then be forced to go back up in the next gen. Besides that, they need FP32 for their Quadro line.

Hate to say it Rollo, but have you tried Ebay?

Heres one you can try to win.

They are very rare as I'm sure you know. Might have to pay a premium. Good Luck. I wouldn't mind having one either.

Computer geeks has the MSI FX5800-TD 128MB for $179. Its not an ultra, but it does take up both slots:)

Of course I do, but how they hell can you compare rooting for a certain sports team to being a loyalist to a graphics card company. You obviously don't get it. And I didn't say at the time, I mean period, at all.

Again..they shouldn't even have a favorite company. They don't understand that neither company cares about them. They want to make money and will do it however they can. Just wait for the reviews to come out and see who the true winner is.

Thank you for the effort, Keys. I'm high bidder on that one so far. (I had seen it and bid a few days ago)

Maybe because you are not good at them?

I'd rather give up my computer and all future computer purchases and playing videogames for life if I could keep sports in return if faced with this choice.

Can you really relieve stress playing videogames? nope, not really after you kill all the enemies u are still pissed off
Can you meet hot girls while playing videogames? probably 100x less likely than playing sports
The fun in comparison playing a sport as a team or individually vs. videogames? 100:1
Positive health effects of sport exercise vs. sitting at home at a computer? xxxx : 0
The entertainment in watching a sports game on tv vs. watching someone play a videogame? Have you ever heard someone say lets go over Bob's house and watch him play Splinter Cell?

hmmm........
Can you improve your physique or looks by playing videogames? nata
With sports you can get your muscles toned and get a tan. haha
How much money does the average athlete make vs. the average person who wins videogame championships?

I don't even wanna argue this topic its so ludicrous.

well anyways...i hope you werent' serious about sports being pointless because if you were you need to seek medical help :)

On the other hand,
1. You could not get girls playing sports if you look like a doofus
2. You could get injured playing sports
3. Handicapped people can't play sport
4. Neither is very fun to watch
Etc
