NV31 5600U Flip Chip

I've heard that the new 5600 Ultra has several hardware upgrades from the current version. One of these (which is important IMO) is that the memory architecture is now 256 bit as posted here by mercenaryForHire. So far i have not been able to validate this anywhere. The review at hardOCP says "The memory bus width is 128-bits wide".

Who is correct?

Also, it has been said that the release date for this card will be the same as the 5900U (later this month). Has anyone heard if any other cards will be released with this group (like the NU 5900)?

As you know the 5900U is available by two manufacturers eVGA and BFG. So it wouldn't be far off to speculate that the new 5600U will also trickle in well before the end of the month...

I think he ment 256mb not 256bit memory.

I could have sworn that the 5600U packed a 256-bit memory bus. Guess that's limited to the 5900U.

Nope, looks like 128 bit bus. And that is probably the only thing i don't like about this chipset. Plus the castrated pixels per clock hurts the card's performance. It's such a shame that we have to wait even longer for nvidia's solution to the performance gap between 5600U and 5800/5900U (Probably 5900 value).

I need this card now!
