I don't get what that whole thing had to do with the NV20, why did he say the last line "NV20 rocks"? Maybe I'm missing something?

doubtful that carmack posted that, anyone could've created that username on slashdot. besides his ego is way too big to bother responding to an nvidia thread on /.

"anyone could've created that username on slashdot"

Yes, it just happens that a guy named Carmack from id is the one who did;) This is far from the first time that Carmack has posted on /., if you follow news closely you will see that every couple of months he tends to throw up a post over there about something or other.

Why would he say something like that? He is a geek, he likely cares a great deal more about video cards then the majority of people in this forum, he has a rather large financial stake involved in them. Doom3 is going to need NV20 class hardware to run properl so likely he is enjoying what it can do a great deal(getting to see what it is he has been working on).

That post sounded very intelligent but you have to be wary of impostors. The most obvious case that springs to mind is when Bitboys started quoting Carmack about how their new hardware would rock. Carmack denied ever saying anything about it.

i think we would of heard a respoinse by now from carmack if that wasnt him that posted.

What makes you think he's seen it? There could be dozens of people all over the net impersenating him.

fyi, bitboys never directly quoted carmack, they just said something dumb like "id has seen it and they are behind it"

Nevermind, it is genuine. I just saw Beyond3D quoting the article and they didn't seem to display any skepticism about it.

Obviously Pidge must be the first person in North America to use one.

Carmack has posted about alot of issue on Slashdot.
If someone showed up with his username all of a sudden posting stuff like that, Im pretty certain the admins would notice.
