Am I doing it right? ;)

OK, here's the link

http://www.zdnet.de/news/artikel/2000/12/13019-wc.html

Well, its on german, but the article says, that the NV20 will not be presented in early January. It also says that at the moment, Nvidia has a lot of GF2 Ultra in stock, so they want to sell these one first, and anyway, no other video card from a competitor is even close as fast as the GF2 Ultra, so. The Product conception (just translated from babelfish) will be end of February.

And please remember, I don't have any connections to Nvidia like Hardware, it's just news from another page ;)

<< NV 20 delays itself

After ZDNet available confidential firm documents of Nvidia the new diagram chip NV20 is not nevertheless being introduced now like planned to at the beginning of January.

13. December 2000 ( ksc )

Also over 50 million transistors Nvidias new diagram chip NV20 is even more complex than the recently introduced processor Pentium 4 of Intel (stock exchange Frankfurt: INL). With a chip clock of 300 mc/s and GDR memory with at least 250 mc/s (500-MHz-SDR-SDRAM-Performance corresponds) the NV20 up to than the at present most efficient diagram chip Geforce should be seven times faster 2 Ultra.

The shift of the introduction on the market for at the beginning of January ( ZDNet reported ), is not however because of the complex Design of the chip, but has economic reasons. On the one hand there is at present no other diagram chip manufacturer, that could make Nvidia the performance crown contentious. On the other hand Nvidia has still another high stock at Geforce-2-Ultra-Chips. And those wants to only sell the manufacturer, before the new NV20 is to be introduced. The final product conception is now planned for at the end of of February in Paris.

January, February - who cares. As long as it's coming in Q1 I'm in for one :)

Doesn't anyone know how to count?

Geforce 2 GTS -> Geforce 2 Ultra = 6 months roughly (early April to late September)
Geforce 2 Ultra + 6 months = late February or early March. NVIDIA is number one. Do you think they are stupid enough to release their next flagship GPU right after the luanch of the Geforce 2 Ultra? My birthday is in March by the way.

i hope nvidia and ati will go out of business soon, so 3dfx will once again become the king of 3d graphic cards.

That would be a disaster. Consumers need competition. Just look how far 3dfx have come along after getting rattled by the competition. Regular driver updates, performance increases with each driver release and a beta version of HSR which has the potetential to achieve something really special. Plus the V5 has absolutely plummeted in price.

hehe :D it was cool back in the days when you couldn't play glide games with a non-3dfx vid card.

This really sucks, as bad as couldn't run Windows with non-Intel CPU.

Tung,

<< i hope nvidia and ati will go out of business soon, so 3dfx will once again become the king of 3d graphic cards >>

LOL... you have as much chance as "Hardware" becoming the No.1 3dfx fan around here.

:)
