Hi all,
Gaming working fine, haven't had a lock up so far. This only happens when opening any DVD files (vob, bup, ect.).
Has anyone run into this?
Heard it could be driver signing... can't remember how to do it if it is.
Any ideas?

BFG 8800 GT OC
nv 169.02 drivers
WinXP sp2

(edit) Tried 163.xx - bsod also
Within the bsod details, it refers to nvdisp.xx.

Got this narrowed down to overlay problems. Suprised more people aren't running into this. I'm guessing the problem could be because I changed out my 7900GS and it's 93.xx drivers to the 88GT and 169.02 - somehow the overlay properties hung on or mixed with the new card/drivers.

If anyone has this problem (and I've seen a lot of it going around yet not one on anandtech), try using mplayerc, or mpc for short. It doesn't use any overlay.

edit. Apparently Driver Cleaner Pro (nVidia, nVidia WDM) may have been the cause - removing overlay regs which contradicts my earlier statement that the overlays mixed or hung - so this may have been the cause just to clear things up as I've noticed this thread is indexed with Google.com.

I do not understand the last part of your post :/. I do get occasional BSOD's sometimes when I try to watch a movie on the internet or with VLC player, even when I start up games now and then. The BSOD message I get doesn't quite refer to any driver. I deciphered this from the blue horror message:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000016, 0x0000001C, 0x00000000, 0x804FA11E)

I am glad that your issue has been resolved. My next test will be the 169.02 drivers. I switched from 169.04 to 169.09, but the issue still remains.

I noticed something. My asus drivers seem to come with some kind of asus-only feature called Splendid video enhancement blabla. I clicked the help document and noticed this information: ''The ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology applies on the overlay surface only''.
Could this feature be causing BSOD's?
