NV to ATI (driver cleaners??)

OK- I've read enough here, and on other forums to realize that I may be missing the boat owning a Nvidia card right now, so I've jumped ship to a 9800 Pro.

Right now I have:

NF7-S (NF2 mobo)
5700 Ultra

Going to:

9800 Pro on same setup

What program(s) should I use to remove all the NV display drivers?? I don't really want to remove my NF2 mobo drivers in the process, as long as I do not have to. I don't want to format, but realize it may be the easiest way possible. I did perform a XP restore point on my fresh OS install. Should I revert to that??

I would format, but I've heard of people not being able install XP w/ a 9800 Pro. Many articles I've read, required another card to install the OS, then install the 9800 Pro.

I will be OC'ing, so what utility works smoothly? What drivers seem to be the best (performance and stability)?

TIA!!

Never heard of having to use another card to install windows xp, but then again I usually use windows 2000 anymore.

Best utility to use is Driver cleaner from driver heaven, get it here.

Best tool to use is rad clocker by itself to simply overclock. Can also use radlinker if you want too, but the Cat 3.10 provide the profile usage most people seek. Get either one here.

Hope that helps you out.

Driver Cleaner ,follow the instructions and I would recommend you also run Cab cleaner as well(found in tools part in DC) .

OK- I already dl'ed DC. The Utility itself seems simple, but what cab files do I select to clean?? It mentions something about the service pack cab's?? Should I select to clean those also??

So for OC'ing, do the 3.10 cats come w/ the ATI Overdrive tab or something?? Is radclocker basically like coolbits for NV? I want something simple that does not need to run in the background like some utilities do.

Thanks again. I hope the switch to ATI is what I'm expecting!!

Cat 3.10 will come with the overdrive tab, but you must be using a XT model, not a plain pro unit. The radclocker installs itself into the ATi contral panel, you basically make your adjustments from there. You can make them permanent (boot up with these speeds) or just reset them when you reboot. Id suggest leaving it non permanent for good reasons.

If you are using WinXP with SP1(service pack) select SP1 😉.

Remember the main instructions are in the readme file once you`ve downloaded Driver Cleaner, don`t forget you run it in safe mode as well.

Btw there`s a help menu in Driver Cleaner that has all the content information and answers you`ll need.

I've swapped ATI and nVidia cards with both the latest Detnator and Catalyst drivers without having to uninstall drivers. I've had no problem doing so.

That may be true, however by using Driver Cleaner it also ensures maximum performance as well with the video card, nothing like removing all the old driver files that are left behind to ensure both stability and peformance, even when I update my ATi drivers I always use Driver Cleaner , it always finds some old files on every use before each of my new driver updates.
