NV Silencer 5 for 6800 GT

Hi, i recently recieved my Arctic Cooling Silencer 5 for my 6800 GT. I kno you can use arctic silver 5 for the core. However, i want to know if its better to use thermal paste or arctic silver for the memory. Thanks in advance.

I sent Scythe an email about why they list this as not having a memory cooler and this was the reply

As per the question you raised, we don't consider it as a discrepancy although you are right in a sense that the metal plate and a part of actual air flow may cool down the memory, but not specialized in cooling the memory.

This may become very clear when you compare VGA Silencers without memory cooler such as NV5 against those who with such as AT4. The back side plate to fix the card looks totally different.

Oh thanks for the info. So it would not matter if you use arctic silver or thermal paste on the mem chips???

You don't need ANY cooling past for the memory chips.

I would not use arctic silver there since it conducts electricity and it would be very easy for some to get on the memory pins and create a short.

I think putting AS5 on the RAm would be a good idea. Though if you don't already have it and would be purchasing it anyways I would go with the ceramique just incase.

I know it would be better than just metal to RAM contact...

I already have some arctic silver left over. But it wouldnt hurt for me to pick up some ceramique.
