Hi folks,

Nvidia appears to have finally fixed the bug whereby flat panel scaling was broken with G80 series video cards using widescreen LCDs in Windows XP.

We recently released driver 158.22 and registry key utility that should allow you to workaround this problem. Please check out the article below for details and instructions. The utility should be included in this article as well.

Thanks for waiting.

I've just tested it and it is working on my config (8800GTS 640MB, Win XP SP2, 158.22 drivers, DVI connection to Dell 2407WFP Rev A04). I didn't have to leave my monitor off when I rebooted like some people are reporting.

Interestingly, it disables HDCP, so it appears the flat panel scaling issue has something to do with stupid HDCP protection. I don't have an HD media drive so it doesn't matter to me.

Well I take it back, it was working fine after I ran the patch and played a 4:3 gaming with no scaling, but now after playing some other WS 16:10 games (HL2 Episode 1 and CS:S) it's back to not allowing scaling to work. Probably have to reboot every time, argh.

I find it alarming that after six months nVidia still haven't fixed such a basic feature.
